Holiday Discovery Flight Goes International

We were intrigued last week by a caller from Australia who wanted to talk about our Gift Certificate and Discovery Flight options. Turns out he actually lives in Minneapolis and is working on assignment overseas. With the holidays approaching he was searching for a memorable gift and found our WingsUS.com website. It seems his parents also live in the Twin Cities and are celebrating their thirty-fifth wedding anniversary, and his sister was also interested in learning to fly. At the scheduled time, the stateside members of the Grunes family arrived at Wings Aviation and were treated to a complete facilities tour and detailed examination of the variety of airplanes available here. Newlyweds (vintage 1973) Mitch and Shari Grunes were excited to try on the Cessna 172 and REMOS G3 airplanes and were thrilled to hear that a Sport Pilot Certificate can be accomplished in as few as twenty hours of training.
They settled on the Cirrus SR-20 for their Discovery Flight and were provided a thorough preflight orientation by Wings Aviation’s CFI team. With clear skies and light winds they took to the air for the adventure of a lifetime. Their flight took them over the scenic St. Croix River valley into western Wisconsin before returning to St. Paul. This flight profile enabled each of the three Discovery Flight recipients to take a turn at the helm of the new Cirrus, courtesy of a very considerate son who is working in Australia.
